XEN Virtualisation - Novell Advanced Technical Training at ITS We are delighted to be able to tell you that in response to the high interest shown in XEN virtualisation at our conferences we are bringing you an ATT called ‘Advanced Technical Training XEN Virtualization and High Availability Clustering on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10’Cost will be £1900 for this 4-day expert course and we will be running it in Bristol on the 14th to 17th of August. We know a few of you are trialling this in the background so we thought you’d like to know what’s available.For the technical amongst you Novell are releasing a SLED 10 Administration course this summer - we’ll put dates up on our schedule as soon as we can. Top Tech Tip from the ITS Feda helpdesk Watch out when installing virtual servers on XEN for SLES 10 SP1 installations! SLES 10 SP1 is due out any time now and you can install the host server using either downloaded CDs or DVDs. However do not attempt to install the XEN SUSE Virtual Linux guest servers using CDs. It does not work. To save you looking we’ll mention that there is a tiny one-line entry near the bottom of the "News" text file on CD 1 that tells you can only use the DVD for that…Our highly qualified helpdesk team can support your Novell, SUSE Linux and Microsoft Networks. Microsoft offer free Best Practice Analyser tool for SharePoint and Office 2007 Suitable for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, Microsoft Office Project 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007; this tool collects settings and values from data repositories such as MS SQL, registry, metabase and performance monitor. Once collected, a set of comprehensive ‘best practice’ rules are applied to the topology.Administrators running this tool will get a detailed report listing the recommendations that can be made to the environment to achieve greater performance, scalability and uptime. Version 3 of ITIL launched
Since ITIL is, in essence, ‘best practice’ training it is inevitable that as IT industry demands evolve, best practice will evolve with it.
Hence ITIL version 3
A significant portion of the current ITIL training material will be refined and included in the new version 3 courses.
Currently only the Foundation course is being released for version 3. The version 2 courses for managers and practitioners will
remain valid until 2008.
