Welcome to the January edition of the
ITS Feda Newsletter.
This month we've ordered things a little
diffferently, sorting news stories by vendor. We hope it makes it
easier to find the things that are most
relevant to you.
The newsletter menu (below) offers quick
navigation of the news articles in this email so you can quickly
scan the topics and chose if you want to read more on those relevant
to you.
We always like communication with our
customers to be two-way so please let us know about any changes you
would like to see and anything you would like us to publish more
information on.

This month’s Top Tech Tip from ITS Feda’s
Novell helpdesk
Our current recommended
Netware 6.5 service pack level is SP5. However, if you do need to
upgrade to SP 6, we recommend that you read
further to avoid a few very annoying but easy to fix
issues.
Our helpdesk services
cover Novell, Linux and Microsoft, so if you don’t have support with
us but need a hand contact us on 0870 145 1600 or enquiries@itsgroup.org.uk
to discuss options. |
Migrating GroupWise to Linux?
With Linux adoption rates
starting to increase our consultants thought this tool might be of
interest. If you are looking to migrate GroupWise (version 7 or 6.5)
from NetWare or Windows servers to Linux, ITS Feda’s Novell
engineers suggest the new GroupWise Server Migration Utility 1.0
should help you. This wizard like utility will help you easily
migrate post offices and Post Office Agents, domains and Message
Transfer Agents, as well as Internet Agents and WebAccess Agents. It
will also simplify cross-platform tasks such as mounting file
systems and copying files from NetWare and Windows to Linux. You can
download
the tool here ~ or get in touch if
you want to ask about GroupWise and Linux Licensing, Training,
Support and Consultancy. You can contact us on 0870 1451 600 or
enquiries@itsgroup.org.uk

New case study
available on Novell Cluster Services
The pressure to meet
customer and staff expectations for rock solid application
availability coupled with the practical logistics of needing to
perform maintenance work on your network and apply patches during
working hours increasingly seem to be clashing, with the results
that many network managers suffer either many unhappy conversations
with frustrated and impatient users or have to work long outside
hours to keep things moving.
ITS Feda recently worked
in conjunction with The Isle of Wight College to install a cluster
solution to address exactly these issues. Find out how together we
brought both stability and flexibility to their network. View
